About This Product
One of the perks of living in Tokyo is shopping at Kakimori, where they make custom ring notebooks like this one with a huge variety of covers and paper options. For those of us who don't live around the corner, Kakimori has created this gorgeous line of premade notebooks. Each one is a limited edition, featuring illustrations from local artists on the bookcloth.
This notebook is printed with Kakimori's undated planner format, with twelve blank monthly calendars and 100 pages of 5 mm grid paper for free-form planning, lists, or weekly schedules. The pale blue printing is very subtle, so your handwriting is the star of the show. We enjoyed filling out the monthly calendars with our most dramatic pen.
Kakimori ring notebooks are sturdy but soft, like a good chair or a good friend. The covers are flexible boards, thick and substantial but not completely rigid. When the front cover is folded back, you can easily write on these notebooks without a table. Because Kakimori wraps its covers by hand with large pieces of artist-designed cloth, each cover is different.
This design, Atelier #51, was made in collaboration with illustrator and collage artist Yoko Inoue. Working with found materials and motifs from her daily life, she makes whimsical designs that express the dynamism and beauty of ordinary things.
Made with Japanese bank paper, an excellent surface for fountain pen, rollerball, pencil, Kakimori dip pen, or any other writing tool on your desk.
120 pages. B6 size (about 5" x 7"). 190 gsm paper weight. Made in Japan.
