We love the look of this nib, which features an uncommon blue steel finish and a hand-ground letter \"C\", with the finish selectively removed for emphasis.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe tip is intensively hand-ground, in the style characteristic of the best Birmingham penmakers of the era. This allows the long, beak-like tip to be more flexible and responsive, and it increases the surface area where ink can be retained on the surface.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFine and moderately flexible, with a great ink capacity, the \"C\" Pen works well for many calligraphy and lettering styles, as well as cartooning, illustration, and sketching.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe estimate that this nib was made more than 100 years ago, around 1910-1920. (It is marked with \"Birmingham\" rather than \"England\" or \"Made in England\" like later pens, and the box art matches earlier styles.) They've been checked for rust and other defects by our experts and are ready to return to service on your desk.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs with any dip pen, you will need to remove the protective coating so that ink will stick to the nib consistently. To remove the coating, simply dip your new pen in ink a couple of times and wipe it off. Repeat until the ink coats the nib completely and doesn't bead up.
