Parallel Pen, 3.8 mm
PARALLEL PEN: TWO NIBS IN ONE
Pilot Parallel Pen is a one-of-a-kind fountain pen for calligraphy and drawing. Look closely at the nib: it's two very thin pieces of steel in a parallel arrangement, with less than a millimeter of space in between for ink to flow. Using capillary action, the proprietary Pilot Mixable Colour ink flows from the cartridge to the extra-wide nib surface — allowing you to draw quickly without skipping.
Every Parallel Pen has a wide, flat tip (from 1.5 mm to 6.0 mm). This writing surface is quite versatile; depending on how you use it, it can make flowing calligraphy or brushlike, organic marks. Try varying the pressure, speed, and angle for different effects.
There's a secret way to use Parallel Pen: turn it on its side and lightly write with the pointed corner of the nib. Ink will flow reliably through this small point of contact, allowing you to make serifs or detailed marks without switching pens.
Several thoughtful design features make Parallel Pen a beloved tool among artists and calligraphers. The body design is lightweight and brushlike, with the center of gravity close to the tip — a time-tested configuration that allows for excellent control. The caps are color-coded by width, and the size is also printed in large numbers on the top of each cap, so it's easy to find the Parallel Pen you're looking for.
Compatible only with Pilot cartridges. The manufacturer recommends that you only use Pilot Mixable Colour in this pen, due to the unique flow requirements of the nib.
Each size sold individually. Made in Japan.
