Peter Pranschke
Watch Out! This Might Hurt!!! (Signed Copy)
A VERY SPECIAL SIGNED EDITION
This book — a joyful, chaotic collection of drawings by our good friend Peter Pranschke — has been out of print for years, so we're very excited to have a few copies to sell. Peter has generously agreed to sign each one of these archive copies. He used our house-made shellac inks to put his signature in different places (and with slightly different embellishments) on each copy.
WATCH OUT! THIS MIGHT HURT!!!
Published by now-defunct St. Louis gallery Fort Gondo Compound for the Arts, Watch Out! This Might Hurt!!! is a collection of the drawings featured in Peter's solo show of the same name. The subject matter is wildly various and frequently ambiguous; many of the drawings seem like single animation cels from lost films.
What unites this collection is Pranschke's immaculate drawing, which is sharp and well-considered even when it's intentionally rough. A natural cartoonist, Pranschke draws in a style that recalls comics' Golden Age; this smooth fluency contrasts with the unfinished and unsettling nature of his work.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Peter Pranschke, a native to St. Louis, received his BFA in Painting from the University of Missouri - St. Louis in 2003. Since then he has exhibited his work at numerous artist-run and alternative art spaces throughout the area. Those spaces include Boots Contemporary Art, PSTL Gallery, Snowflake, Mad Art Gallery, Los Caminos, Museum Blue, The Millitzer Studio & Gallery, The Granite City Art and Design District (G-CADD) and Macklind Appliance.
In addition, his cartoons have been printed in several local zines and periodicals including Shitty River Comics, Bad Jacket, Scuzz Report, All the Art, and The Mound City Tattler.
