The Polychromos brand, meaning "many colors," was born in 1908 and became known across several continents. Today, Faber-Castell's premium line of colored pencils still stands above their competition. The oil-based formula is less sticky and more blendable than wax-based options like Prismacolor Premier pencils, and you'll never see the white "wax bloom" common to that type of pencil. The pigments are bright and lightfast, it's easy to layer colors, and the tips and cores are break-resistant.
