About This Product
Schmincke Aerocolor is an intense, highly versatile artist's acrylic—with a consistency only a bit thicker than plain water. You can use Aerocolor with all the same surfaces, brushes, and mediums as your other acrylics, but you'll be able to achieve new effects and smooth, flat finishes that would otherwise be very difficult.
The Aerocolor range (and this set) includes both opaque and transparent colors, so you have control of both the hue and the opacity of each mark. Both types of color are professional-grade, with opaque colors that offer complete coverage and transparent colors that glow and refract light like a pane of stained glass.
In our studio test, we used Aerocolor inks on primed canvas to execute an entire painting, from loose, diluted underpainting to sharp, opaque lines. For the pastel shades, our artist used the Supra Opaque White, included in this set, as a base, creating flat tones that contrast with the glossier, more vibrant top layers.
Drying time is quick with these colors, so we were able to do our demo painting in two short sessions, with about a half hour to allow each layer to set. Once dry, Aerocolor is completely permanent, so you can cover the previous layer with the next one without worrying about muddiness and unintended blending.
Use Aerocolor with watercolor and ink brushes, dip pens, empty brush pens, and airbrushes. Because it's permanent when dry, ensure that you clean your tools before the paint hardens. We recommend pairing Aerocolor with non-absorbent surfaces, like primed canvas or acrylic painting paper, for the brightest color.
This set of nine essential colors is everything you need to create daring, expressive works of art with Aerocolor. The opaque colors included are Supra Opaque White, Primary Yellow, Carmine, and Black. The transparent colors included are Primary Magenta, Ultramarine, Primary Blue Cyan, Phthalo Green, and Brazil Brown.
