About This Product
Available in very limited quantities worldwide, this special set of Schmincke Supergranulation watercolors includes all 40 magical Supergranulation colors in 5 mL tubes, plus a Schmincke porcelain palette and a Da Vinci watercolor brush made exclusively for this set. It's all safely stored in a deluxe Schmincke briefcase with metal guides to hold 40 small tubes, plus compartments for your brushes and accessories.
The 40 colors included comprise all eight permanent Supergranulation themes, including the colors just introduced in 2022. So you get five tubes each of Forest, Tundra, Glacier, Deep Sea, Galaxy, Volcano, Desert, and Shire, all ready to produce vibrant and exciting paintings.
The Schmincke Porcelain Palette included in this box is our top-of-the-line recommendation for watercolor mixing, with a glass-smooth surface and 19 wells in two different sizes. With the subtlety and unusual composition of Supergranulation, it's even more important to have a mixing surface that allows you to preview your colors before application, so this is a very nice addition to the set.
Finally, there's a custom Da Vinci / Schmincke Supergranulation watercolor brush in a lush, large round shape with super absorbent bristles. The faceted handle is easy to hold and control, and we really like the speckled paint job Da Vinci has applied to this one-of-a-kind brush.
Give this limited edition set to an artist for a gift that really makes a statement, or buy one for yourself for the landscape painting set of your dreams.

What are Supergranulation watercolors, anyway?
We're happy to catch you up! Originally released in 2021, Supergranulation watercolors take a natural property of certain artist pigments and turn it into an eye-popping special effect. Pro watercolorists know that some pigments, like ultramarine blue and natural earth colors, form pockets of darker pigment when applied to paper. This textured look is beloved by landscape painters because it creates a complex and organic look with one brushstroke.
Horadam "Supergranulation" colors take this granulating effect to the next level. By mixing together highly granulating colors that naturally separate from one another, each Supergranulation color explodes into ripples and pools of contrasting pigment when you use it on paper. The result is the most intensely granulating watercolor we've ever seen, enabling you to paint dreamy sunsets, extraterrestrial landscapes, and complex natural light with ease.
