Tulip Needle, founded in 1948, is the result of 300 years of needle-making tradition in its hometown of Hiroshima, Japan. During the Edo period, low-ranking samurai were paid by the piece to make sewing needles. After the end of feudalism in Japan, this tradition turned into a local industry in Hiroshima, and the craftspeople made many improvements in quality and efficiency during the 20th century.
Today, the Hiroshima region still produces 90% of Japan's pins and needles, and Tulip is the best-known brand from this historic center of needlecraft. Tulip's hand-sewing needles are used in the finest couture houses, by passionate home sewists & quilters, and by fiber artists all over the world. Polished with a unique method, with just the right amount of flexibility and finely-finished, easy-to-thread eyes, Tulip needles are simply delightful to use.
