About This Product

Horadam Watercolors, "Inspiration Set" with Porcelain Palette

Available only for the last few months of 2024 — Schmincke's new "Inspiration Set" includes twelve cleverly selected colors inside a metal travel palette with a unique porcelain insert.

The black metal palette provides all the usual mixing space (two fold-out sections with white enamel) that you'd get with a standard travel tin. But the six mixing wells in the porcelain palette are above and beyond what other travel sets offer.

Inside the box, you'll find nine outstanding all-purpose watercolors from Schmincke's longstanding Horadam lineup, plus three Supergranulating colors that produce special effects when diluted. In our example painting, you can see that the sky includes lots of the natural texture made possible by Schmincke Supergranulating watercolors.

Twelve half pans are included. The nine classic colors are pure yellow, ruby red, perylene violet, helio cerulean, helio green, yellow ochre, burnt umber, perylene green, Payne's grey bluish. The three Supergranulating colors are shire blue, deep sea green, and tundra violet.

Made in Germany.

About Schmincke Horadam Watercolors:

Schmincke Horadam watercolors are among the world's finest professional-grade colors. First patented in 1892 by Schmincke co-founder Josef Horadam and continuously improved over more than a century of effort, Horadam watercolors are vibrant, smooth, and easy to apply to any kind of watercolor paper. Only the best artist pigments are used for the 140 colors that make up today's Horadam lineup. They're milled until the paint becomes creamy and utterly consistent, and each color shines in its pan when water is applied.

Even the process of filling Horadam pans is special. Each pan is liquid-filled from the same watercolor that's in Horadam tubes, then allowed to dry four times in a process that takes several weeks from start to finish. The result is an incredibly concentrated dry pan that reactivates instantly when you touch it with a wet brush. Scrub a little bit and you'll have intense color, ready to apply to your notebook or pad.
