About This Product

TIMELESS DESIGN. MADE IN JAPAN.

We've been looking for something like this for years. Kakimori Frost is an ultra-simple, impressively well-considered pen with a combination of features we haven't seen anywhere else. Created in collaboration with Kakimori by the world-renowned industrial designer Makoto Koizumi, this pen gets all the details right.

Koizumi took inspiration for this pen from the texture and look of frosted glass. It's molded from translucent acrylic in a streamlined shape and finished with a subtle surface texture. The translucent body offers a tantalizing peek into the inner workings of your pen.

The cap is a screw-on, which we prefer because it's less likely to open accidentally—for example, in the pocket of your favorite pants. But unlike other screw caps, Frost can be opened with one hand, in a short and efficient motion. That's because it's quadruple-threaded, with four parallel tracks that unlock at once as you turn the cap.

The Frost Rollerball features a smooth, skipless metal tip that's effortless to use and suitable for almost all kinds of paper. Inside the pen body, you'll find a piston-style converter. Please note that Frost does not come with ink. It's meant as a companion and showcase for your fountain pen ink collection, which will look fantastic inside a Frost pen (or three.) Any fountain pen ink will work, but we suggest pairing this pen with Kakimori Pigment Ink for the ultimate aesthetic experience.

Finally, it's worth mentioning Frost's well-designed and comfortable grip section. Some fountain pens don't have enough grip space to hold them without pressing your finger into a hard edge. The designer noticed this problem and moved the hard edge as far as possible from the nib, making this pen a great choice for hands of all sizes.

Pen body and gift box manufactured in Japan. Nib made in Germany.
