Oil Paint in Stick Form

For many years, the best-loved product of R&F Handmade Paints has been this gorgeous stick of oil color, wrapped in a piece of wax paper, which provocatively invites you to apply it full-strength to the surface of your choice. No palette required; no mediums or thinners required; not even a paintbrush is needed for this application of oil color. (Although, of course, Pigment Sticks work with all your existing oil paints and accessories.)

When you open the box and slide out your new Pigment Stick, you'll first need to peel off the plastic protector at the tip. You may also need to peel off oil-paint skin; this is a normal part of using Pigment Sticks, which can be avoided after the first use by wrapping them in cling wrap (or simply using them frequently, since they dry slowly, like any other oil paint.)

And... that's all the preparation. Apply your R&F Pigment Stick to any surface you would paint with oil colors, like canvas, wood panels, and oil-primed paper. You can blend colors with a Blending Stick or by using a lighter color to work into a darker color.

And feel free to apply your other oil colors to the piece, too — it's nice to make a big background with Pigment Sticks, then do more delicate work with traditional oils and brushes.
