About This Product
Made in midcentury France, these six vintage dip pen nibs offer a wide range of line widths and styles for calligraphy, writing, drawing, and sketching. We've bundled together a few of our favorites from the prolific nib manufacturers of France, primarily located in Boulogne-sur-Mer and offering hundreds of models at the peak of the steel-pen era (around 1930.)
We've selected six classic French pens for this bundle: the Baignol & Farjon #2436 Velleda Cementee and #3298 Gloire de Boulogne, plus four models from various iterations of the Blanzy pen company: the famous Sergent-Major Superieure #2500, the balloon-adorned Montgolfier, the elegantly angular Henry Superieure, and the #81 Plume Caducee.
Thanks to the protective coating applied to all dip pens (even new ones produced today), these pens are in excellent vintage condition. They've been checked for rust and other defects by our experts and are ready to return to service on your desk.
As with any dip pen, you will need to remove the protective coating so that ink will stick to the nib consistently. To remove the coating, simply dip your new pen in ink a couple of times and wipe it off. Repeat until the ink coats the nib completely and doesn't bead up. This process takes about 15 seconds and only needs to be done once, before you use the pen for the first time.
Sold individually. Appearance may vary slightly since this is a vintage item.
Please note that a pen holder is not included. We recommend a standard, European-style, metal-prong nib mount for use with vintage pens, since old nibs varied in diameter and will not always fit into holders with fixed-diameter mounts.
