Made in the Netherlands from smooth, ultra-bright-white plastic, the Talens 66-P Mixing Palette is a super-affordable tool that's still a great choice. Items this inexpensive are rarely made in the home countries of their brands, so we applaud Royal Talens for keeping production of this item in Holland.
The extra attention to manufacturing is obvious when you look at the palette: it's uniform and nearly flawless, unlike almost all molded-plastic items of this type. The molds need to be cleaned and maintained properly to give precise results, and that doesn't happen when manufacturers ship production far away from home.
This style of palette is often called a 'slant,' because the five polygonal wells are slanted toward their narrow ends, allowing paint to pool there. This shape allows you to keep more concentrated paint at the top of the slant, and more dilute paint at the bottom. Each slanted well is accompanied by a round well, which can be used for water or color.
The palette measures 105 x 195 mm (about 4" x 7.7"). Ten wells.
