Introduced in the late 1970s, Mitsubishi's BOXY-100 ballpoint pen is ubiquitous in Japanese classrooms and offices. It's a particular favorite of students because of its unique orange side button, which releases the spring and pops out the back button with enough force to roll a small object, like a paper ball or a roll of tape, across a desk. (It also makes a very satisfying click.)
The ballpoint cartridge in BOXY-100 is no slouch, with above-average performance for a pen of its class. Like all ballpoints, it dries very quickly and works best on smooth paper. That makes it ideal for everyday note-taking.
