About This Product
Inside this tin are 12 oversized artist pencils, including the most important colors and graphite grades for classical drawing techniques. They're by Cretacolor, which traces its roots to 1863 in Vienna and has always specialized in fine art pencils.
Included in this set are five Cretacolor MegaGraphite pencils, grades HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, and 9B. The wide cores (all pencils in this set have 5.5 mm cores) allow the softer grades to be used for bold strokes and shading. The firmer grades can transition from fine details to subtler shading techniques.
The black pencils in the middle of the set are Cretacolor Nero, an oil-bound charcoal pencil that produces a deep, smudge-resistant black. Nero Hard, Nero Medium, and Nero Soft are all included.
Finally, four Mega Artist Oil Pencils are included. They're all in traditional colors for sketching: dark sepia, light sepia, sanguine, and white. These drawing-class essentials allow the artist to quickly define the key tones in a subject. In this oversized pencil form, they're easier to control than pastels, but the large leads offer much of the same creative freedom.
