WHAT IS PALO SANTO?

Palo santo (variously translated from Spanish as 'holy wood' or 'sacred stick') is simply wood from the Bursera graveolens tree. This tree, which grows only in the dry tropical forests of South America, contains a unique, fragrant resin.

Bursera graveolens belongs to the same family as frankincense and myrrh, and people in South America have burned it for religious and cultural purposes since antiquity. The aroma is completely natural—palo santo's warm, invigorating aroma comes from the natural terpenes in the wood. After the wood is aged, these terpenes develop even further, producing the high-quality natural incense you'll find in this box.
