About This Product

Raphaël Precision is a premium synthetic brush designed for super sharp details and complete creative control. With springy, shape-retaining Precision fibers at your command, you can put color exactly where you want it.

With a gentle stroke, the firm Precision tips glide across the paper, leaving behind hairline textures and sharp edges. With more pressure, you won't just get a flooded mess—Precision brushes are wonderful for applying hard-edged, concentrated color in larger areas, too.

In our studio tests, we noticed that Precision brushes excelled at difficult watercolor tasks, like filling a small area between two wet parts of the painting and drawing thin, unbroken lines. We started with Raphaël Softaqua brushes, which are softer and more absorbent, for our initial washes and blocking in big areas of color. Then we switched to Precision for the middle and top layers, and it was much easier to draw details with a tool that's made for the job.

Please note that Raphaël Precision sizes may not correspond to brushes you already own. For example, we noticed that the rounds are larger and feature longer fibers than others in our collection marked with the same size. This extra length offers a greater capacity and encourages long, calligraphic brushstrokes. The scale images on this page are the best way to know which size to purchase.
