Speedball Gel Printing Plate
Gel printing is a new art form that's become popular very quickly, especially with mixed media artists. It's essentially a transfer process: you apply color to the plate, then stick a piece of paper to it and burnish the back until the color fully binds with the sheet. Peel it back and you have a one-of-a-kind print!
People like to use gel printing for all kinds of different purposes. We tried two: applying a paper mask to parts of the plate, then inking the negative space — this is an easy technique for making nature prints if you use leaves instead of paper! And we tried directly painting on the plate with gouache, which also transferred nicely to the print paper.
Speedball's Gel Printing Plate is a little different than the competition: it's thinner (which makes impressions more precise) and more tacky (which holds stencils, objects, and prints more firmly.)

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Because of its unique composition, Speedball Gel Printing Plate is designed ONLY for use with printmaking inks. You don't have to use any particular brand, but use something designed for linocut or woodcut printmaking — not acrylic paint of any kind. Acrylic paints dry too quickly and too permanently and they will ruin your plate.

How quickly will my order ship?
Our St. Louis warehouse team is pretty speedy! We generally ship orders within one business day of receiving them. You'll receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order's packed and out the door.
How long will it take to arrive?
We offer shipping estimates for each order at checkout. Please note that these are only our system's best guess — there are many factors that may affect shipping time.
Generally speaking, our parcels take about 2-3 business days to travel to most U.S. addresses once they are shipped.
