Our 64-page Idea Notebooks are the perfect place to keep your notes and sketches. We make these staple-bound notebooks at our St. Louis HQ, using linen-textured soft covers and inner paper stock that works with all kinds of pens and pencils.

Model #204 is a two-pack of 5.5" x 9" notebooks with wine-red covers and smooth, white interior pages with fiber inclusions (these small random elements are beautiful, and also a great reminder that this paper is made from 100% recycled fibers.) The paper is milled in Michigan, which means this entire notebook is made in the Midwest, from pulp to packaging. It's also acid-free and lignin-free for long-term durability.

We've tested the Idea Notebook with fountain pen, rollerball, gel pen, and various pencils — it handles them all with ease, and we were especially impressed with the ink performance on this text-weight (70#) paper stock. We use paper that's designed to hold ink in sharp, defined lines, which makes your notes crisper and easier to read.

It's nice to know that the paper in this notebook is FSC certified — it is sourced from sustainably-managed forests — and the mill uses 100% hydropower to manufacture the paper stock. So our paper has an unusually small carbon footprint, and our short supply chain for this product (it's only a six-hour drive from French Paper in Michigan to our St. Louis warehouse) makes it even more sustainable.

For your reordering convenience, the Federal model number is handwritten (in Optimist Pigment Ink, of course!) in a hand-stamped frame at the bottom of the back cover. There are no other markings inside or outside the notebook — minimalists welcome :)
