RGM Torchio 2642 Manual Printing Press
STRONG, EVEN PRESSURE FOR ANY STUDIO
This precisely-machined, crank-operated press is the next step for printmakers working with barens and other hand-printing tools. The Torchio 2642 applies perfectly even, incredibly strong pressure to your prints, so you can crank out editions faster and more accurately.
Here's how it works: a large, knurled lower roller sits below the galvanized-steel printing bed. Your printing plate (linoleum, woodblock, copper, zinc, etc. — this machine can handle any of them) goes on the printing bed, ink side up. Then your printing paper, which should be stuck down securely to the block. Then the thick printmaker's felt (included with each Torchio.) Now you're ready to press.
Once the tension is properly adjusted for your plate and paper, using the two tension knobs at the top, you can use the crank to push the printing bed through the press. The lower, knurled roller grabs the bed from below, while the smooth roller presses down on the felt. Immense pressure is applied to your print, so you get saturated, consistent ink applications, over and over again.
Torchio 2642 can make prints up to 10" x 16" (26 x 42 cm). It works with all intaglio and relief printmaking techniques. Clampdown holes are located in both sides of the steel frame. Assembly and setup are required. Weight: 11 kg (24 lb.)
Made in Italy.
RGM — MADE IN ITALY SINCE 1961.
RGM is a family company in Maniago, about an hour's drive from Venice in the northeast corner of Italy. The town of Maniago has been known for many years for its fine cutlery, shears, and blades of all kinds. In the late 1950s, Rosa Gastaldo Mario decided to turn this local expertise into an art supply business, and in 1961 he officially established RGM to supply painting knives to artists around the world.
Today, RGM is operated by second and third-generation members of Mario's family. From a small factory in Maniago, they're constantly working with artists to create new shapes and styles — because fine art never stops changing, and new tools are always welcome.
