About This Product
Holbein Watercolor Medium is an essential tool in the watercolorist's kit. Of course, you can dilute watercolor with plain water, but water changes the paint's consistency and makes the final work more matte. That's desirable for pale washes and subtle shading, but in other cases, you may want to make watercolor glossier and more transparent.
That's where watercolor medium comes in. It's a colorless version of Holbein's professional-grade watercolors, made with the same ingredients, except that pigment is omitted. Use it for dramatic glazes, sharp, translucent shapes, and thicker applications of diluted color. You can also add a couple drops of water to increase flow when needed.
