About This Product
Linen fabric, made from the fibers of the flax plant, is the preferred surface for serious painters because of its strength, flexibility, and fine texture, but it's often too expensive for frequent use. Richeson Linen Canvas Panels are made from 100% linen fiber and mounted on a strong 1/8" high-density hardboard substrate, suitable for professional use but surprisingly affordable as well. These linen panels are completely flat and warp-resistant, offering strength during the painting process and durability once the finished piece is on display or in storage.
The superior materials in a Richeson canvas panel are assembled in a multilayered process that ensures archival quality results. The HDF board is first primed with gesso, then adhered with a layer of archival glue to the triple-primed linen canvas. With three isolation layers between the board and the painting surface, these panels can prevent degradation of the surface and dimensional instability for many years.
